TheBeautyStatus is pleased to announce the signing of Grant Burke of GB Designs. Burke will be looking after the design aspect of TheBeautyStatus – making sure our content is fresh and ahead of the game. “I am a Toronto-based illustrator and graphic designer who loves sports, art, and anything that is creative or expressive. Originally my artwork was more on the traditional side and mostly consisted of oil paintings and drawings. The subject matter of my work has ranged from children playing pond hockey to horses and wildlife. My interests are vast and I always welcome the challenge of painting new and interesting topics as well as collaborating with other talented artists.
After high school at St. Andrew’s College I went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree at Queen’s University. It was during this time that my interest in the digital side of design began to grow and I began exploring different medias. Immediately I found that my traditional art skills transferred over to the digital realm and I have been hooked ever since. After graduating from Queens in 2011, I enrolled in the Advertising & Graphic Design program at Humber College and have been honing my abilities ever since.
These days my work mainly consists of vector illustrations, branding/corporate identity, and print design. I run my own freelance design business called GB Designs (gbdesigns.ca), which handles illustration and design work for companies and individuals all over the world. In the past few years I have created numerous children’s book illustrations, logos, identity packages, book covers, posters, game art, and more! Some of my past clients have included Touch Autism, IntelliResponse, MakeGamesWithUs, and Uptik Research. I love working with start-up companies and small businesses because it gives me a chance to help shape the identity of their companies and to best prepare them for success.
Throughout my entire life I have been heavily involved with a number of competitive sports including baseball, soccer, rugby, and hockey. My true passion is hockey, which I played at the Jr. A level for a number of years and was fortunate enough to skate alongside many talented players that have gone on to the professional level. My involvement in sports has played an integral role in shaping the man I am today and has provided me with many great life lessons and skills. It has taught me the importance of the team dynamic, which is why I welcome the opportunity to join the other passionate members of the TheBeautyStatus.
I hope to take my love for design and sports and create some amazing work for TheBeautyStatus, which will inspire the other team members and all their fans. TheBeautyStatus has a great message and outlook on both the sports industry and life in general, which I think matches up well with my own personal viewpoint. Keeps your eyes peeled for some innovative new design work on TheBeautyStatus, which will keep you coming back for more!”
